An Exclusive Designed Robotic Surgery Course in Gynaecological Oncology

The ESGO-SERGS Secondary Advanced Robotic Surgery Course on June 26 - 28, 2019 in Ghent, Belgium with  aims to improve the knowledge and skills of surgeons on procedures in gynaecologic cancer by robotic approach (Da Vinci Si or Xi).

The 2,5 day clinically oriented, hands-on training course for  robotic surgeons with advanced experience in robotic surgery,  is an exclusive opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills.

The Course program features interactive theoretical and video sessions, practical training on live tissue (Animal Model + Cadavers) at the ORSI Academy, Belgium combined with a day of unedited videos sessions and discussions.

Target Audience

The ideal profile of the course candidate is a robotic surgeon with experience in robotic surgery that meets the following requirements:

  • Has performed at least 50 robotic cases in Gynaecological Oncology (console surgeons)
  • A member of an active robotic program at his/her hospital
  • Fluent in English.

 

Teaching Format

The robotic course is a 2,5 day workshop in Robotic Surgery, offering candidates a unique opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills, including:

  • Advanced Theoretical Lectures and Tutorial Videos.
  • Training on Da Vinci Xi. Simulation, virtual surgery.
  • Hands-on Training on live tissue - Animal Model.
  • Dissection on Cadaveric Model

Advanced programme will include following procedures:

  • Pelvic and para aortic lymph node dissection trans and retroperitoneal approach
  • Sentinel lymph node dissection with icg
  • Radical hysterectomy
  • Specific benefits of robotic approach in gynaecologic oncology

Participation is compulsory throughout the course. The course will be conducted entirely in English.

Fee includes:

  • Admission fee to the course
  • Accommodation for 2 nights in a single room in Ghent, in a standard hotel in the vicinity of the course venue
  • Coffee breaks, lunches and welcome dinner
  • Travel costs to Ghent, Belgium
  • Travel costs to the case observation centre and accommodation in single room for 1 night in the vicinity of the selected centre venue (in either Essen, Milan or Stockholm).

In case of cancellation without replacement, the fee will be refunded, provided a written request is received by May 15, 2019.

**No refund can be made if notice of cancellation is received after this date or in case of no-show.

General Information

The ideal profile of the course candidate is an intermediate level surgeon, looking to improve the  and fluent in English.

Attendance to the course is limited to 12 participants, enabling 2 attendees to be around one robot during the hand´s on training and in group of 4 for live surgery observations in 3 selected European Centres of Excellence, practicing robotic surgery in gynaecological oncology.

Applications will be treated on a first-come-first-served basis, with respect to geographical balance of countries and regions as well as the level of experience judged by the committee, according to the brief description of professional background provided to the jury.

The participants will be selected by the joint committee of ESGO and SERGS.

  • If the fee is not received immediately after the candidate is notified on May 15, 2019, the position will be offered to the next suitable applicant.
  • The reservation can only be confirmed upon receipt of the course package fee payment.
