ESGO Regional Course in Communication Skills

Summary

The quality of clinician’s communication skills are important for patients and their families but also for clinicians themselves.

One full day programme oriented on communication skills workshop for doctors, psychologists and clinicians from all other interested disciplines is an exclusive opportunity to learn how to talk to patients and their families.

They can improve how patients and families cope with illness and help clinicians prevent burn out.

Target Audience

The ideal profile of the workshop candidate is a medical specialist, psychologist or clinician from all other related disciplines looking to improve his/her communication skills with patients and their families. The workshop is focused of improvement of relations between doctors and patients. The participants can ascertain how patients and families cope with illness and learn how to prevent from a work burn out.

The course is dedicated to participant for Serbia and neighboring countries, and will be conducted in Serbian language.

Learning Objectives

• Improve knowledge and skills in effective communication skills required in every day practice with patients

• Acquire comprehensive knowledge of how to deliver bad medical news.

• Understand how to manage specially stressful situations in communication with patients

• Gain skills required for their own emotional regulation

Format

This workshop is a combination of an interactive presentation, practical exercises, role-play of different clinical scenarios and work in small groups.
