The International Network on Cancer, Infertility and Pregnancy (INCIP) promotes research on cancer in pregnancy aiming to increase knowledge among health care workers and the public.
Recent research has shown that cancer treatment during pregnancy does not jeopardize maternal neither fetal chances. Focus is not solely on gynaecologic cancers though all cancers are included.
Collaboration with national or regional initiatives together with oncologists, obstetricians, perinatologists, paediatricians and other health workers is pivotal to improve the knowledge.
In addition, more experience is gained in young women who want to preserve their fertility.
The primary objective is to establish an international registry on cancer during pregnancy and fertility preservation during cancer treatment. Data refer to the oncological, obstetrical and neonatal setting. For cancer in pregnancy, all cancer types (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy) and treatments are included, including termination of pregnancy. Also for fertility preserving methods, all cancer types and treatment modalities are included. In addition, this platform should generate idea’s and facilitate the research for collaborations. The international registry contains data referring to both the cancer in pregnancy and fertility preservation populations. Close collaboration with the ESGO Fertility Preservation task force is aimed for.
