ESGO Curriculum

Committed to the cause of excellence in care and education, since 2010 ESGO aims to establish multidisciplinary standards for care in training and ovarian cancer surgery, and acts as the European authority in the field of gynaecological oncology.

Requirements of gynaecological oncology increased, surgery has become more complex, oncological care has become more multidisciplinary and evidence is required also for modules and assessments during training.

The ESGO “new” Curriculum (compulsory as of January 1, 2021) has been mainly based on and around competence and structure of the general basic training in obstetrics and gynaecology.

The eLogbook has been provided for training in gynaecological oncology and is compulsory for all fellows undergoing the ESGO certified training.

Note that:

• The training includes a minimum of two (2) and at the most three (3) clinical years of full-time equivalent (FTE) training according to a prospectively approved programme in an ESGO-accredited Gynaecological Oncology unit.

• Successful completion of the Curriculum and a passing mark on the ESGO theoretical Exam are mandatory requirements for obtaining the ESGO certification. The ESGO Exam must be passed within six (6) years from the formal start of training.

• Modules of another specialty (e.g., radiotherapy, medical oncology, surgery) may be followed for up to six (6) months within the fellowship programme.

The portfolio must be completed within four (4) years after the formal start of training. Retrospective fulfilment of the criteria, e.g., completion of the portfolio over years of oncological practice without a registered and defined training programme, is not allowed.

Accreditation Fee and Reimbursement of Travel Expenses

The ESGO training centre accreditation regular administrative fee is 1.100 EUR for centres from High Income Countries (HIC) and 500 EUR is due from applicant centres from Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC). Please consult the list of LMIC countries as of the World Bank.

In addition, training centres who wish to become recognized are asked to pay for travel expenses and hotel of the visitors. Besides, extra expenses, i.e. the PCR Tests are covered by the hosting centre. · Claim form together with original bills are sent to the visited centre by visitors directly.

The regular administrative fee of the Re-accreditation process, both the on-site visit and the online tele-visit is 1.100 EUR for centres from High Income Countries (HIC) and 500 EUR is due from applicant centres from Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC).

However, if the same centre has already been accredited for Ovarian or Endometrial Cancer surgery, the fee is as follows:
